A Chinese antique half table from Shaoxing, China, crafted from catalpa wood approximately 90 years ago. Traditionally known as a “half table” because of its narrow depth, this form was designed to sit neatly against a wall while providing useful surface space without taking up too much room.

The table retains its original wood colour, with only a light lacquer touch-up to refresh the surface while preserving the natural grain, age marks, and patina of the catalpa wood. Its slim 46 cm depth makes it particularly practical for an entrance hall, corridor, living room, or beneath artwork and mirrors.

With its balanced proportions and understated antique character, this piece works well as a Chinese console table, display table, or hallway table in both traditional and contemporary interiors.
